Make 'em laugh
Cornerstone is becoming a very well known venue for the top acts in stand up comedy. They may be acts coming to us to try out their material before they go on huge arena tours, or they may be doing a pre Edinburgh festival show, or they may, very excitingly, be acts just about to break into the big time.
John Bishop, who came in Summer 2009 is a case in point. When we booked him and put him in our brochure he was reasonably well known, but people didn’t jump on the entry in the brochure. But between the brochure coming out and him appearing at Cornerstone he went stratospheric – he’s now doing an arena tour, hosting his own prime time Saturday night show on BBC1 and interviewed on countless radio and TV shows.
It just goes to show that it really is worth booking to see stand up at Cornerstone even if you haven’t yet already seen the comedian on TV. Chances are you’ll catch a little gem before they make the big time – and you’ll be able to tell your friends you saw them here first. And even if they don’t go stellar like Michael McIntyre we’ll wager you’ll have a jolly good laugh!
